SPYC Memorial
Endowment Fund

The Memorial Endowment Fund was established in 1987 and codified in 1996 by a group of trustees led by Brendan Flynn.

The general purpose of this trust is to establish a way for the membership to gift money into a long-term fund in memory of a loved one. These funds are completely separate from the operating budget of the club and are now managed by a private investment firm. Per the trust agreement, the principle can only be used if “the survival of SPYC is believed to be in jeopardy." There is a very detailed procedure as to how the SPYC trustees could request use of these funds. Donations have been made over the years to this fund, and both the donor and the family of the loved one are thanked and acknowledged. Both names are memorialized on the two plaques hanging over the central stairwell. Donations, of any amount, are simply given by sending a check made out to: SPYC Memorial Endowment Fund to the club treasurer with the name of the person it is in memory of listed on the check or accompanying letter.
